The AP Program allows students to gain a much deeper understanding of the course material than would normally be offered in the High School setting. Through this course, students will be able

Advanced Placement Courses

to improve on their reading and writing skills, in addition to becoming accustomed to learning at a rigorous college level pace.

Taking classes in the AP Program also allows students the opportunity to take a comprehensive test at the end of their junior year to gain college credit for the course. The exams are scored on a scale of 1-5. Most colleges will give students credit for a score of 3 or above, however it is important to check with each individual college to find out which score they will accept.

This course will push students to academic levels that will help to prepare them for their college experience. Because of the rigor of these courses, students should plan on spending a significant amount of time reading outside of class. There will be summer reading projects assigned  for which the students are responsible. The teachers have attached the summer reading requirements and assignments to this letter for your information and convenience.

Also, attached, is the Student/Parent Contract required for this course.
