A valiant comeback came up just short as the Tomcat boys basketball team fell in overtime to North Hopkins in the first game of the Freeman Parish Tournament at North Hopkins. After building a 10-8 lead in the first period, the Tomcats let up defensively in the second period and went into halftime down 12 points. They fought back and chipped away at the deficit thoughout the second half and were able to tie the game in the waning minutes of regulation. Both teams had multiple opportunities to prevent overtime in the last minute but were unable to do so. Tom Bean played hard but their shots would just not fall in the extra period, resulting in the 56-47 final score.
Leading scorers for the Tomcats were Logan LeDane and Stephen Kinney with 12 points each. Caden Gomez added 6 points. Hunter Book contributed 5 points. Cody Miller and Brandon McClain chipped in 4 points each. The Tomcats head back to North Hopkins tonight to play Prairieland at 7:00 p.m. in the old gym.
